Renowned Nigerian reggae star, Majek Fashek, has spoken exclusively to PREMIUM TIMES from his sickbed, saying he is responding to treatment.
It was exclusively reported on Sunday that the musician was on admission at an undisclosed rehab home in Abuja over suspected case of drug abuse.
In a brief telephone chat with our reporter on Monday, Majek sounded sober and convalescent as he was able respond to a few questions with some level of coherence.
Asked whether members of his family were around to take care of him, the guitarist said they are not around. “They are in America. My family is in America, my wife is in America, my children are in America,” he said.
On how he is faring, the musician said his condition has improved. “Thank God, I am responding (to treatment),” he stated, without elaboration.
Although Majek is on admission in Abuja, he did not disclose his exact location in the capital city.
The reggae star, however, turned down our reporter’s offer to visit him, saying, “I am not supposed to receive visitors like that.”
