The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa on Wednesday said it had arrested three men, who allegedly stole a ram.
The state NSCDC Commandant, Mr Muhammad Gidado, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that the corps arrested the suspects in the Dutse local government area.
"A syndicate that specialised in stealing livestock in Dutse local government area has been smashed by our men. Three members of the group were nabbed during a raid, while attempting to run away with the ram they had stolen,’’ he said.
Gidado said the suspects were arrested for conniving to steal a ram belonging to Malam Alasan Yahaya of the same area.
"The suspects allegedly connived and stole a ram belonging to one Malam Alasan Yahaya of Gida-Dubu quarters,’’ he added.
The commandant said the suspects were nabbed red handed, while dragging the ram away. He added that the arrest was as a result of a tip-off by residents of Gida-Dubu quarters and its environs about the activities of the suspects.
According to him, the suspects have admitted committing the offence and would soon be charged to court.
