Fake Soldier Arrested By Police In Ogun

One Ayodele Adedeji of Jackross, Iyana Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State, has been nabbed by the state Police Command for allegedly parading himself as a soldier in the Nigerian Army.

Adedeji who is said to be using his assumed military authority to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public, was arrested by operatives attached to Onipanun Division of the state command after he had been monitored for sometime by members of the public who called the attention of an Army sergeant residing in the area, to his activities.

The sergeant was reported to have accosted the suspect to ascertain if Adedeji was a genuine military man and after interrogating Adedeji, the sergeant was not satisfied with his explanation, and handed him over to the police.

During interrogation by the police, the culprit confessed to being a fake soldier who had been impersonating for long.

He told police detectives that his elder brother who was in the Army he died some years back and he decided to use his uniforms, identity cards and other accouterments to pass as an officer.

The police recovered the following items from Adedeji:

Two pairs of complete Nigerian Army uniforms, fake NA ID card, jungle boots, dummy gun, and other paraphernalia of the Nigerian Army.

The state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has therefore directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation and Intelligence in to thoroughly investigate the matter to know if the suspect was involved in kidnapping, land speculation and armed robbery for proper prosecution

Lagos State Police Command Arrests Police Who Was Found Drunk

The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested a policeman who was found drunk.

A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Patricia Amadin, said the policeman reported by the media to be drunk has been identified and arrested and would face disciplinary measures.

According to Amadi, “The attention of the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Fatai Owoseni has been drawn to a pictorial publication on the website of Sahara Reporters of 07.08.15 and the PUNCH Newspapers of 08.08.15, depicting a Policeman in uniform alleged to have been drunk.

"This is to inform the general public that the said Policeman has since been identified and arrested by the Command and that the Commissioner of Police has ordered a full blown investigation into the case, in accordance with the Force disciplinary procedures

“In line with the stand of the current Force leadership on discipline, the Commissioner of Police has repeatedly warned Police officers of the Command to desist from engaging in acts of indiscipline and going contrary to the ethics and professional standards of the Force which are capable of dragging the name of the Force and the Command into disrepute.

“While thanking the public for its continued support in exposing erring officers, he enjoined them to continue to do so to help the Command to improve on its service delivery.”

Man Kills Police Officer Over Spaghetti Dispute

A 38 yr old man, Haldu Shaibu, has been arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrates’ Court for killing one Corporal Babangida Yeiwa, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Shaibu narrated that he moved from his single room apartment to live with the deceased and one other, Victor Kapivet, because people were calling him Boko Haram.

He stated that on October 12, 2013 around 7:00a.m., the deceased gave him N1,000 to prepare spaghetti and fish but because of the thugs that harass him by calling him ‘Boko Haram’, he refused to go out but insisted on buying the spaghetti and ingredients within the neighbourhood. He said the deceased then left angrily without saying a word.

He narrated:

“Later in the day, Babangida came back and requested for his food which I served him. He requested of his change, which I told him I had given to Victor. He accused me of giving his change to Victor. An argument started.

He took a knife to warn me to back off but I held the knife with my hand. It cut me and I started bleeding.
Then I got hold of another knife. He stabbed me again. He picked up a railing and hit me. I grabbed an iron rod and hit him. He fell down and I rushed downstairs to call one Emmanuel Musa, a police Corporal

The mobile policemen rushed the body of Babangida to theGeneral Hospital Marina and I was taken to Lion Building Police Station."

The defendant admitted killing Babangida not because of a woman or anything but as a result of some misunderstanding.

Police in Kentucky, came up with a unique way to catch drug dealers by using their competition to rat them out.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has published flyers, asking drug dealers to report their rivals.

Police posted the notice on its Facebook page. The notice tells drug dealers that police will work with them to destroy their competition.

The flyers features an image of a marijuana leaf and reads: “Is your drug dealing competition costing you money? We offer a free service to help you eliminate your drug competition!”

Pat Melton of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, said that the flyer is funny, but the department is not kidding.

At the bottom of the flyer, people are asked to complete the information on the drug dealer such as their address, phone number, vehicle the dealer is driving and the hours of operation.

The post has been shared more the 2,450 times.

In a Facebook comment, police wrote: “Ludacris you say? Arrests have been made as a result of information received.”

Tanker Driver Crushes Police Sergent In Lagos

A Police Sergeant attached to the Taskforce for dismantling tanker traffic in Apapa area of Lagos State, was on Tuesday crushed to death by a tanker.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Patricia Amadin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.

Amadin, who said the deceased was identified as Lukas Abashi, disclosed that the driver of the vehicle with number plate ANC 66 XA escaped after the accident.

She said the policeman died on the spot after the tanker ran over him.

The police image maker said the driver attempted to escape with the vehicle, but for the intervention of other members of the taskforce who used motorcycles to pursue him.

She said the policeman was on official duty as of the time of the accident, adding that the tanker has the inscription ‘TOTAL.’

Amadin said the body had been deposited in the mortuary, while the tanker was taken to a police station in Apapa.

She said the police were trailing the driver.

Pastor Arrested with 14-yr-old Girl at Cemetery in Delta

Officers of Delta state Police Command arrested a Pastor, identified as Oro Oboreh with a 14-year-old girl at Ozoro cemetery in Delta state.

According to the police report, "on July 30th 2015 at about 11:30pm, Police patrol team intercepted one Pastor Oro Oboreh with a 14yr-old girl at Ozoro cemetery.

"The Pastor stated that he was performing a spiritual healing for the girl at the location. Investigations are on to ascertain the mission of both persons at the cemetery at such a time."

Senate: Police Says Media Reports on Senate Rules Forgery Investigation is False

Contrary to earlier media reports, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has said it has not concluded its investigations into the alleged forgery of the Senate’s Standing Order, adding that no copy of its report had been handed to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to THISDAY yesterday on the purported report, the Force Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Ojukwu described as false the news report that the investigation into the alleged forgery
had been concluded and a report submitted to the president by the police.

A news story at the weekend claimed that the president had received a copy of the police report last week, confirming that the Standing Rules used to inaugurate the Eighth Assembly were forged.

In the story, the police were said to have recommended the prosecution of those found culpable of forging the rules, which were used in the election of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu on June 9, 2015.
The report was said to have indicted the management of the National Assembly, especially the clerk, Salisu Maikasuwa, among others, and recommended the prosecution of the suspects.

However, Ojukwu told THISDAY that the investigation was still ongoing, adding that no report was submitted to the president.

“I want to state categorically that the investigation into the allegation of forgery at the Senate is still ongoing. We have not concluded it yet, so where did the media get the information that not only has it been concluded but handed over to President Mohammed Buhari.
The investigation is still ongoing and whenever it is ready, we will make it available to the public. The media report that we have concluded the investigation into the case is false and should be disregarded,” he said.
