Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed only four of his Manchester United players could be truly regarded as 'world-class'.

Ferguson confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest player he worked with at Old Trafford.

He also put Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes among the elite, as he reflected on his career in his new book 'Leading'.

Ferguson said: 'If you read the papers or listen to the television commentators, we seem to be awash with 'world-class' footballers.

Its Official, Manchester United and PSG Confirm Di Maria Deal

Manchester United and PSG have confirmed the sale of Argentina star Angel Di Maria to the French champions.
The English club announced the sale on their website on Thursday, writing:
“Manchester United can confirm that the sale of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain is complete.

“The Argentina international was signed from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee on 26 August 2014 and made 24 starts for the Reds, coming off the bench a further eight times. The midfielder scored four goals in total – three times in the Barclays Premier League and a late FA Cup strike at Yeovil Town.

“After representing Argentina at the Copa America, he did not participate on Tour 2015, presented by Aon, so his final appearance for the club came against Hull City when he was injured and withdrawn in the first half.

“Di Maria is now embarking on a new challenge and the club wishes him all the best for the future.”

Guardiola warns Manchester United: Schweinsteiger has not been fit for three years

New Manchester United signing Bastian Schweinsteiger has not been fit for three years, according to Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola.

Schweinsteiger, 31, completed a summer move to Old Trafford for around £12 million having spent his whole career with Bayern, but has struggled with injury problems in recent seasons.

The Germany captain made just 15 Bundesliga starts for Bayern last term as Guardiola's side collected their third consecutive league title, and the Spaniard says his fitness issues are a concern.

"When he does not have injury problems, I am completely convinced he will do very well at Manchester United," Guardiola told reporters. "He is a top, top player.

“Unfortunately, during the last three years he was never in good condition. He is going to play really good [at United]. I really hope that is going to happen.”

Schweinsteiger's move to the Premier League sees him reunite with Louis van Gaal, who coached him at Bayern between 2009 and 2011.

The 31-year-old midfielder led Germany to success in the 2014 World Cup, but struggled for fitness before and after the tournament.

Upon returning from Brazil, Schweinsteiger managed just 20 league appearances in Bayern's title-winning campaign and missed six of 12 Champions League ties.

Bastian Schweinsteiger has completed his move to Manchester United from Bayern Munich, signing a three-year contract with the Red Devils.

The Germany international flew into Manchester over the weekend, underwent a medical on Sunday and has now penned personal terms to seal his £14 million move.

Manchester United are trying to get rid of Robin van Persie

A friend of Manchester United striker, Robin van Persie is accusing the Red Devils of trying to drive the 31-year-old away from club behind his back.

After an underwhelming season, Manchester United are ready to listen to offers for the former Arsenal captain with only a year remaining on his contract.

Pierre van Hooijdonk, a former Feyenoord and Holland team-mate of the United striker is however claiming that the club is secretly marketing him about. 

“As early as January of this year, I received information from Turkey about Robin and Fenerbahce,” said Van Hooijdonk in his first-person column in Voetbal International.

“The minute this information came, you knew that United had sent people to test the water for a move.

"Agents and others were searching for big clubs who are prepared to pay the high fee involved for van Persie. Robin’s contract expires next year, so this is the moment when United can still get money for him.”

“Van Persie is in a difficult situation," Van Hooijdonk added.

 "To the outside world he says he is happy to stay and I can understand this. But Robin has the feeling that United want to get rid of him.

“A big club in England, Spain or Germany is a more attractive option. Until the player realises that behind his back the two clubs have done a big deal.

“That is the moment the pressure is put on. You are almost forced to go to the club where your employer has struck a deal. This is what I mean with games being played right now.”

“Of course the money is good, life is good in Istanbul, but it is not a big football league in Europe we are talking about.

“There is a lot at stake right now for Robin. He could be heading for his last Euro tournament in France next summer. So he needs to play a lot in the 10 months before the Euros.”

Van Hooijdonk in his colmun also disclosed his relationship between him and Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

“I have a feeling that his relationship with Louis van Gaal is not as good as it was when they were both having cosy chats looking at players in the stands in Holland," Van Hooijdonk said.

“I would advise Robin to leave United this summer. All the signals are there that the club wants to sell him. So he has to get out on time.”
