PDP Chairman And 1100 Other PDP Members Left For APC In Bayelsa

A wave of defection has swept through the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa as its current Chairman, Sam Inokoba, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Timi Alaibe, and over 1,100 party leaders left the party for the All Progressives Congress.

Addressing a political rally at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Mr. Inokoba, who listed 10 reasons for leaving the PDP, they were crossing over to the APC because the PDP government has derailed from its original objectives.

Oil Bunkers Kill 4 soldiers, 1 Policeman in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa Police Command said on Saturday that four soldiers and a policeman were killed in an attack on Nembe waterways by armed gunmen, suspected to be pirates.
The command’s spokesman, Asinim Butswat, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa that the Joint Task Force (JTF) base at Nembe came under attack on Friday’s night.
“On August 7, 2015, at about 11:30p.m., four speedboats loaded with gunmen, suspected to be sea pirates attacked the Joint Task Force (JTF) base, at Nembe Water Front, in Nembe LGA.
“They killed four soldiers and one policeman. The gunmen carted away two HP guns and other arms from the base.
“A combined team of the JTF, Marine Police and the Navy are combing the creeks to recover the arms and arrest the culprits”, Mr. Butswat said.
When contacted, Isa Ado, a Lt. Col. and Media Coordinator of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, confirmed the attack.
Mr. Ado, however, said that the casualty figures and loss of arms and ammunitions were yet to be ascertained.

Generator Fumes Kill Family Of Three in Bayelsa

Residents of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been thrown into pandemonium following the death of five persons as a result of generator fumes.

DAILY POST gathered on Thursday that a family of three, involving a husband, his wife and his child died in Emeyal community in Ogbia after inhaling fumes from a generator.

The corpses of the deceased were said to have been discovered three days after their deaths following an offensive odour coming from their bodies in the area.

A 4-man Child Trafficking Syndicates Led By A pastor Was Caught With 36 Children In Bayelsa

4 child traffickers allegedly led by a missionary pastor were paraded before newsmen in Bayelsa state by officials of the state's Department of State Security Service after 36 children (12 boys, 24 girls) drawn from different parts of the country were found illegally in their custody. The children are mostly from Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

They were allegedly taken from their parents in the guise of providing them with better living conditions and education but were turned into domestic workers. They were transported to states like Rivers, Enugu, Edo and Lagos where they serve as housemaids.
The leader of the syndicate who claims to be a missionary pastor denied using the children as domestic workers. He said he collects the children from their parents and hands them over to people who have "christian hearts" and will send them to school.

The only female arrested, Tonbra Alazigha, said she ran a charity organization where she caters for the needs of the children and allegedly sends them to school. Her claim was however refuted by one of the rescued children who said she worked at a farm in Bayelsa

"She tell me say she will put me in school. She register me but I use to go farm. I use to sell water for her. The person that brought me don't know about it" she saidOne of the rescued boys confirmed that they worked in farms and sold water for the lady. The 36 children are now in the custody of the Bayelsa state DSS and will be handed over to officials of NAPTIP for further investigations.

12 People Confirmed Dead From A Pipeline Eplosion In Bayelsa
