BasketMouth – How Did D’banj Win the MTV Awards ?

D’banj claimed the Evolutionary Award at the recently held MTV Mama Awards and this has aroused some curiosity as to what to quantify the award with in terms of his artistic works in past years. A lot of people have shared their opinions through social media platforms while others have decided to be quite with it and let it go. BasketMouth at his event BasketMouth Uncensored 2015 which was held in Houston, Texas share his quota of rants pertaining the MTV Awards. He congratulated some, gave a good remark to his fans as the awards he needs and also asked why did D’banj win the Evolutionary Award.


He said:

"The first Award that they will nominate me for, that I really respected was that Award, I really love the fact that I was nominated.” BasketMouth says, referring to his MTV Awards nomination.

He then continued by saying “Technically, I do not look at awards to judge how much I’m good; yea… My Award is you people… Yea… For the fact that you guys are coming to watch me, I got this much award. Like around the world… You guys are awesome, Thank you”

“Nigeria, we are blessed.. When they were doing the awards.. P’Square, they won like 2 awards, best duo, Best this one.. D’Banj won.. I don’t know why…” and the crowd busted into laughter.. LOL

And finally about who won, he said: “Davido won above WizKid, which is quite strange, but it’s allowed.. It’s allowed.”

MTVs MAMA Awards 2015: Nigerian Stars Arrive in South Africa

Seyi Shay, Vimbai and Jhene Aiko are in the South African city for MTV MAMA. Jhené Aiko and Seyi Shay have been selected as performers at the award ceremony.

Nigerian stars have started landing in South Africa for the continental music award. Davido, Patoranking and Yemi Alade landed in South Africa today.

Anthony Anderson to host MTV Africa Music Awards [MAMA] 2015

Actor, producer, comedic genius and all-round funnyman Anthony Anderson is to host the fifth edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal 2015 (MAMA), MTV Base’s flagship awards ceremony.

MAMA 2015, sponsored by KwaZulu-Natal in association with Absolut Vodka and in partnership with The City of Durban, takes place on Saturday 18 July at the Durban International Convention Centre, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. For the first time ever, the live telecast will air simultaneously onMTV Base (DStv channel 322), MTV (DStv channel 130) and BET (DStv channel 129).

‘I’m so looking forward to my first trip to Durban and KwaZulu-Natal and honoured to be hosting MAMA 2015 on Nelson Mandela’s birthday – it’s going to be awesome!” said Anthony Anderson.

MTv MAMAs 2015: Chris Brown, Big Sean, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj & Rihanna Nominated For “Best International Act”

More news on the MTv MAMAs as MTV Base reveals that Beyoncé, Big Sean, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna have been nominated for Best International Act at the MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal 2015.
The urban giants will go head to head at MAMA 2015, which is sponsored by KwaZulu-Natal in association with Absolut Vodka and in partnership with The City of Durban. The winner, chosen by music fans voting online at http://mama.mtv.com , will be revealed at the live awards ceremony on Saturday 18 July at the Durban International Convention Centre, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
This award was first introduced in 2010, the "BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT" award has been previously won by Pharrell Williams (2014) and Eminem (2010). BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT is the only category that recognises the contribution of international artists at the Mtv MAMAs Awards: the remaining 17 awards categories are all awarded to African artists.
The MTV Africa Music Awards 2015 will broadcast live across Africa on MTV Base (DStv channel 322), MTV (DStv channel 130) and BET (DStv channel 129) on Saturday July 18, 2015 at 9:00PM. The show will also be transmitted worldwide on partner stations and content platforms including BET International from 18 July. In addition, a special MAMA-themed edition of MTV’s acclaimed World Stage franchise will air globally on MTV channels around the world on 27 August 2015.
