Manchester City Dominates Chelseas FC

IMG_20150816_175418
Manchester City handed out total humiliation to Premier League champions Chelsea with a 3-0 hammering at the Etihad on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero should have scored in the first minute but he finally found a way past an inspired Asmir Begovic to give the hosts a slender lead following a one-sided opening half.
Captain Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho then added gloss to the scoreline in the final quarter as the last season’s runners-up established an early five-point lead over Jose Mourinho’s side.
With Thibaut Courtois serving out a one-match ban, all eyes were on Begovic as the ex-Stoke City goalkeeper was handed his first start in a Chelsea shirt.

Cech unnerved Chelsea - Wenger

Petr Cech broke a few Arsenal hearts down the years during his glittering Chelsea career but helped the Gunners enjoy a rare victory over Jose Mourinho's side on Sunday.
The 33-year-old shut out his former team mates at Wembley as Arsenal drew first blood in the English season with a 1-0 victory in the Community Shield at Wembley.
Signing a keeper of such pedigree, especially from a main rival, was a coup for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and the Frenchman was quick to laud Cech's influence on his first competitive appearance for the Gunners.
"He did well. Maybe he had an influence on the Chelsea players as well because they felt that to score against him they had to score the perfect goal," Wenger, who enjoyed a first victory over a side managed by Mourinho in 14 attempts, told reporters.
"When you have that sometimes you want to try too hard.
"It happened especially with Eden Hazard when he had that chance in the box."
Cech's clean sheet completed a satisfying day for Wenger but he said the real business begins next week with the kickoff of the Premier League season against West Ham United.
"We have to turn up with the needed and demanded performance in every single game," he said. "We have a tricky start against West Ham United, Crystal Palace -- the two derbies -- and then Liverpool straight after."

Real Madrid coach's wife says Benitez is clearing up Chelsea manager's mess

Rafa Benitez joined Real Madrid this summer to tidy up another mess of Jose Mourinho's making, according to the Spaniard's wife.

The 55-year-old made the move to the Santiago Bernabeu - replacing Carlo Ancelotti - making it the third club he has succeeded Mourinho at having previously taken charge at Inter Milan and Chelsea.
Speaking to La Region, Montserrat Seara believes her husband is making amends for Mourinho's mistakes.

She said: "We tidy up his messes. If you think about it, of course you end up crossing paths. There are only a few world-class clubs out there."

She also confirmed that the former Liverpool and Napoli boss never switches off from football and even showed off his football knowledge to woo her.

Mikel Obi Confirms Chelsea Stay

Mikel John Obi says he has no intention of leaving Chelsea. The 28-year-old Nigerian, the Blues’ second-longest serving player behind John Terry, is currently in the United States preparing for his 10th season with José Mourinho’s side. Mikel has been linked with moves to the United Arab Emirates club al-Ain and the Turkish side Fenerbahce this summer but he insists he will see out the remaining two years of his contract in west London.

“I want to stay and the manager wants me to stay,” he told the club website. “I’ve got two years here and I’m happy. I like to be somewhere where I have developed friends and family. It’s like my family here and every day I come to work it is like coming in to see my family.

“I know all the players and all the staff so it’s going to be a hard place to leave when my contract runs out but let’s see what happens. I want to see out my two years.”

Mikel played the first half of Chelsea’s friendly against New York Red Bulls on Thursday, when goals from Loïc Rémy and Eden Hazard could not prevent them slipping to a 4-2 defeat.

Overall it was a pretty good warm-up game but not the result we hoped for,” he added. “We are here to work hard, and we are here to train hard leading to the Community Shield and to the league. I think we’re on the right course. That game was just a one-off game and we know we need to go back to training, buckle up and know the season is starting soon.”
Chelsea take on Paris St-Germain in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday.

Football Transfer Update: Chelsea bags Begovic for £8million

Chelsea has completed the signing of goalkeeper, Asmir Begovic for around £8m from Stoke City on a four-year deal.
Begovic, 28, becomes the third signing of the summer for Chelsea following the arrival of Radamel Falcao on a season-long loan from Monaco and midfielder Nathan from Atletico Paranaense.
“I am very happy to be joining Chelsea FC. After speaking at length to the manager, I feel like I can develop here and be an important part of this team. I am looking forward to meeting up with the team on Wednesday for the pre-season tour,” Begovic said.
Thibaut Courtois will remain No. 13 with Begovic taking the vacant number No.1 shirt.
Begovic, who stands 6ft 6in, had spent the previous five-and-a-half years with Stoke having joined from his first professional club Portsmouth in early 2010.
At the Britannia Stadium he made 172 appearances, quickly establishing himself as first choice, and scored the Premier League’s longest-ever goal when he netted a clearance from inside his own penalty area against Southampton in November 2013.
Born in the former Yugoslavia, Begovic spent his childhood in Germany and Canada, representing the latter at the Under-20 World Cup before opting to play at senior level for Bosnia-Herzegovina. He was their first-choice goalkeeper at their World Cup finals debut in Brazil last year, and has accumulated 41 caps so far.
